Jumpflex Anchor Kit: How to Anchor Down Your Trampoline

Our trampolines are much loved features in backyards all around the world, so no one wants to see them flying through the air! During wild winds & severe weather trampolines can act like a wing and can be easily picked up by the wind and tossed into your house, fence, or neighbour’s property. We have heard some crazy stories of trampolines that have travelled over 40 metres in severe weather!

So here we share our best preventative measures to ensure your Jumpflex Trampoline doesn’t take flight like Mary Poppins and your trampoline is secured to the ground properly!

Secure your trampoline using a Trampoline Anchor Kit 

Check out our 4 piece trampoline anchor kit, an easy method of fixing anchor pegs to your Jumpflex trampoline. It is especially designed to secure our trampolines. Like the rest of our trampoline accessories, the AnchorKit is designed to last and features heavy-duty corkscrew augers to keep your trampoline firmly in one place. These are paired with sturdy webbing buckles that have metal D-rings for ease of installation.Compared to stakes, auger-style anchor pegs provide a stronger grip to the ground and look much neater and tidier than sandbags.

Best Way to Anchor A Trampoline

1. Install the Webbing Buckles.

   Loop the webbing buckles (with the D-rings) around the horizontal bar of the trampoline foot frame at equal intervals around the trampoline.

2. Measure where to Place Your Augers. 
   

   Using a tape measure, mark 1-1.5 feet from alongside the horizontal foot frame of each vertical leg of your trampoline, where you have positioned the webbing buckles. Place each auger at this distance.

3. Secure the Augers into the Ground.

   Feed the tip of each corkscrew auger through the D-rings of the buckle. To fit the auger into the ground, place the pointed tip perpendicular against the ground. Pushing downwards, turn the auger in a clockwise direction. Make sure that the auger remains completely vertical while pushing it down. Continue until the corkscrew stake is buried in the ground with only the upper loop visible.

4. Check that Each Auger is Firmly Secured.

   If you’re having difficulty screwing the auger into the ground, use some water to soften the surface. Each one should be secured into the ground like a corkscrew for maximum stability.

Note: Anchor kits are just a preventative measure and aren’t a guarantee that your trampoline won’t still take flight. In high winds you will need to go the extra mile to keep your outdoor objects firmly on the ground.  So if you live in a location where high wind speeds and cyclones are the norm - some more extreme measures may need to be taken. To stop the net flailing about you can also drop this down onto the trampoline mat while the trampoline is not in use.

While we do recommend buying a Jumpflex Anchor Kit, if it's not available to purchase, you may be able to find things around the house that have a bit of weight to them, but may not look as neat and tidy as the anchor kit.

DIY Trampoline Anchor Ideas

• Fill sacks with sand and place them over the feet to keep your trampoline weighted to the ground .

• Grab some tent pegs and attach them over the trampoline feet

• Drive Waratah Standards (can be purchased from your local hardware store) or trampoline stakes into the ground and secure your trampoline to these.

Securing Trampolines to the Ground for High Winds

The reason trampolines are so great for bouncing is the same reason they are prone to being picked up by the wind. The large, flat and flexible mat acts like a wing or a sail, meaning a gust at the right (or rather, wrong) angle could pick it clean up off the ground.

If your trampoline is exposed to the wind, take extra care to anchor it to the ground securely. Learn how to tie down a trampoline to avoid unwanted mishaps. As well as securing trampoline to the ground for high winds, you might want to consider the placement of your trampoline.

Think carefully about how to keep a trampoline from blowing away. It is a good idea to place your trampoline in an area that is as sheltered from the wind as possible. Features like fences, walls, sheds or trees all provide some cover to protect your trampoline from strong gusts.

How to Tie a Trampoline Net Down

It isn’t just your trampoline’s mat that is susceptible to the wind. The all-important safety net also creates more surface area, acting like an air pocket that the wind can easily lift. Consider removing your safety net when high winds are predicted. Simply disassemble the net and allow it to fall onto the mat. You can then cover it with a tarpaulin and reassemble when it’s safe to use again.
